St. Louis Rams The 2014 offseason for the St.
Louis Rams was relatively quiet, St. Louis Rams but that might not be a
bad thing at all. In my opinion the best thing that happen for the Rams this
offseason is a deal that did not happen. Of course I am referring to the Rodger
Saffold story. For those of you who may be lost let me explain what happened. St.
Louis Rams The starting tackle for the Rams, St. Louis Rams Rodger Saffold, was
scheduled to become a free agent this offseason. St. Louis Rams Saffold was
considered to be the Rams top priority this offseason and would have to be
lured away from other potential suitors. Unfortunately on the first day of free
agency, it was reported that Saffold had signed a 5 year 42.5 million dollar
contract with the Oakland Raiders. Personally I could not be too upset
because the Raiders highly overpaid for Saffold with this deal. The Rams would
now have to look elsewhere for a starting tackle… or would they? It turns out
that Saffold failed his physical with the Raiders and the deal would no longer
be going through. The Rams trainers decided to look at Saffold and determined
he was physically fine to play. After getting this information, the Rams
decided to resign their starting offensive lineman to a 5 year 42.5 million
dollar deal which was significantly less money that the Raiders signed him for
and a win for the Rams. This signing helped to solidify the offensive line with
the resigning of a solid offensive tackle. St. Louis Rams The move that never
was for the Oakland Raiders may just wind up being the best move for the St.
Louis Rams. The Rams also managed to sign one of their starting linebackers
Jo-Lonn Dunbar which helps bring back some experience on the defensive front.
While resigning Dunbar and Saffold, the Rams also lost a couple of guys to free
agency. The Rams released once prized cornerback Cortland Finnegan, who signed
with the Dolphins. This move is for the best as Finnegan had been injured
most of last year and when he was healthy he did not look too good in the
secondary. Two other guys the Rams lost were the backup quarterback Kellen
Clemens to the San Diego Chargers and Safety Darian Stewart to the Carolina
Panthers. Stewart was not too big of a loss here as they have TJ McDonald and
will be looking to draft a safety, but Clemens was a solid backup last year and
could be missed if Bradford goes down again
this year. One final signing that I would like to mention is that of the former
Tennessee Titans receiver Kenny Britt. St. Louis Rams Britt is a low risk high
reward pickup for the Rams. Britt could be a very good receiver for the Rams
and could be another nice target for Sam Bradford to throw to, that is if he
stays healthy. St. Louis Rams Britt has had trouble staying on the field the
past couple years, but when he has he has shown signs of being a very good
receiver. St. Louis Rams Overall the Rams have not done anything too special in
the offseason like they did last year signing Jake Long and Jared Cook, but
that does not make it a bad offseason. Rodger Saffold was a great resigning and
Kenny Britt could turn out to be a pretty solid number two receiver. St. Louis
Rams Stay Tuned this week/weekend for an article on the question on everybody’s
mind…. Will the Rams select a quarterback in the draft and if so when and who
would be the best option? St. Louis
